Kick Ass!

I'm scrambling to find things to fulfill my 'creative logos' assignment for Tuesday night. It's too late in the day for me to drink coffee, so I'll just photograph it! This is one of my favourites too, it's the Kick Ass blend from Kicking Horse Coffee. Yum.

The Flight Computer

Bonus post time! Last weekend, one of my friends had his flight computer out. Now I have no idea what this thing is or what it does (even though he tried to explain), but it was fun to shoot with my macro lens!

Quickie Road Trip!

My husband had a rare Saturday off, so we decided to take a road trip out to Lake Louise with some friends to check out the ice sculptures from the competition last weekend. We had a nice little walk around before retreating to Banff for a nice leisurely lunch. Great way to spend a Saturday! And because it was such a good day, here are four photos from our Lake Louise wanderings. Bonus!

Disposable

One of my class assignments is to shoot corporate logos in a creative way, as if we were shooting for a client. I somehow doubt Starbucks would like the image portrayed by this photo, but sadly, it's a cold reality of our disposable consumer culture.

Out for a walk, again

For the second day in a row, I brought my camera to work today. The weather was exceptionally co-operative, so I trekked off through a rather nice neighbourhood near my office. I got several good shots, but this one made the cut for photo of the day. The others will make an appearance in Urban Fragments, Part II this weekend!

Sticker street art

This funky street art sticker caught my eye on the side of a mailbox on my lunchtime photo-walk today.

Lego!

One of E's favourite toys. :)

Finally done!

... my "abstract food" assignment, that is. Only the top of these shots is from today, but I thought I'd share the others from my archives that are going into this assignment (along with the apple-orange and the pomegranate & soda shots).

Bonus Post: Flowers!

It's Monday. My energy is low, my inspiration is lower, and since my kiddo has gymnastics tonight, it's unlikely I'm going to have any mind-blowing Project 365 photo of the day. So, to make up for what will likely be an underwhelming post later tonight, here's a bonus post of some flowers that I took on the weekend. :)

More fruit!

This week's challenge in a group I loosely follow was monochrome. I couldn't find anything to shoot in B&W, so I shot oranges... in an orange bowl. ;)

Apples & oranges

Another photo for a class assignment: apples & oranges.

This is what I get when I miss the bus...

Hot pink and lime. Truly, one of my favourite colour combos. I lucked upon this on my way to Safeway this evening - I originally planned to take the bus, but I just missed it outside my office. I decided to walk instead, and I'm glad I did, because these lovely colourful balls of silk flowers were hanging outside one of my favourite florist shops. I never would have seen them if I hadn't missed my bus!

Baby, it's cold outside

I was so disappointed when I saw this lovely hoarfrost all over the trees and bushes this morning when I raced out of the house to catch my bus in time, camera unfortunately not with me. By some stroke of luck, I got home early this afternoon with daylight to spare, so I snapped a few shots in my yard. I couldn't choose just one, so today is a three-fer!

The little salad thief

Eliza will rarely eat salad from her own bowl (and once declared that "leaves go outside!"), but she has no problem picking out her favourite parts from the big bowl in the middle of the table...

Tuesday blahs...

Tonight was class night, so inspiration for today's photo was limited to what I could find on my kitchen counter. This may well go towards yet another class assignment for a couple weeks from now.

I need to go to bed. :P

Thirst-quenching!

Getting a head start on week #3's assignment: abstract food. More to come in this vein in a bonus post - I have a few different shots, but this is the one that got picked for today's photo of the day!

1.17.2010

Sweet success!

I've been trying all day to shoot blue things, I need one, maybe two more shots for my assignment due on Tuesday. I have a couple more ideas floating in my head so there could be bonus photos in another post later tonight, but this is the one shot that I am most happy with so far, shot through my hawthorne tree towards the west horizon.

1.16.2010

Dinosaurs are yummy!

My kid has an obsession with toast, but has resisted sandwiches of all kinds - until today. PB & banana shaped like a dinosaur is the ticket! (And apparently the head is the best part!)

Urban Fragments, Part I

I was digging through my shots from earlier this month and came across these photos I took on my lunch break. This isn't an official Project 365 submission since they're almost two weeks old, but I wanted to share anyway.

Why Owl, Hello!

Eliza's favourite puppet, and blue to boot! Perfect for next week's assignment submission.

Fridge fun

Oh, my husband, always the smart-ass. He was playing with Eliza tonight, teaching her letters with her magnetic alphabet & fridge farm. This is what I found when they were done:

For those not familiar with the fridge farm, that would be the back half of a horse. ;)

My little rockstar

Today is snapshot day. I didn't have the time or inclination to do the set-up for another assignment shot that's in my head, so I snapped this one on the fly while my daughter was 'helping' her daddy play Rock Band. She loves the drums!

1.12.2010

Another multi-photo day!

Today is another multi-photo day! I needed to get some more stuff done for an assignment, so I accompanied my husband to his hair appointment (despite feeling like a truck hit me today... ugh!), which happened to be close to a very fascinating inner-city neighbourhood. I wandered around with my camera for an hour while he was busy, and I quite enjoyed myself.

Photos 3 & 4 also pertain to another class assignment: "blue". Glad to have knocked out a couple for that one that I really like!

The Tower

My assignment for class next week is a tough one: shoot the Calgary Tower. Simple enough? Of course not. I need to shoot it in an "interesting and innovative" manner. Oy. Today's Project 365 is a set of six that I shot this afternoon. I am thinking I might need to go back, I'm not totally thrilled with all of them.
